Venice -How to be an Upstander?

‘Up Stander’ An Up Stander is someone who recognizes what is wrong and does something about it. For example, if an up stander saw a kid doing the wrong thing they would not just stare at him, they would do something about it.
Up Standers tell other people to STOP! If there doing the wrong thing. Your voice is really powerful, you can use it to protect yourself and others. For example, you saw a kid throwing rubbish everywhere, just tell to ‘STOP’ what their doing. If they don’t listen, you can use your voice to tell someone older or someone who knows better what happened.
Action speaks louder than words. Sometimes, you can’t really use your voice to stop something because sometimes you can actually do something about it. For example, if you saw someone doing the wrong thing, you can tell them to ‘STOP’ but you can also teach them to do the right thing.
You don’t need to be someone else. Being an Up Stander can be anyone, it doesn’t matter if your a Prefect, a house Captain etc. For example, you are just a normal student and you are not that known at school, then you saw a kid doing the wrong thing, as an up stander you should do something about it. It doesn't doens’t matter if your just a normal kid or just you. Being an Up Stander is not that easy, especially when you are really shy. But it’s okay, don’t be afraid especially when you are on the right track.

Venice M -The Move 2.0

“ You guys are moving here in NZ!” mom said. When I heard what my mom said, all
of my emotions are mixed up. I don’t know if I should be happy because I’m going to
be with her or if I should be sad because I’m going to leave my friends and my school
that has been part of my life.

It’s been 2 years since mom has moved to New Zealand to work there, she said one day
me and my dad will be moving there to. Of coures at first I felt excited because I really
wanted to be with her that’s why I didn’t mind moving to NZ, but while I’m getting
older and while I’m getting really close to my friends to my teachers I kinda realized
that ‘How is my life going to be in New Zealand?’.

Philippines and New Zealand are completely different countries, culture, people and
environment. So how will I adjust? In 4th grade, I had a feeling that it’s going to be
my last year in school that’s why I made this year the most memorable school year in
my life. I joined the ‘Choir Concert’ which is really fun because we sang some disney
songs which I really liked because I really like to perform in a theatre and it’s like
performing in it.

After our recognition, I went home take off my shoes and lay down in my bed. I know
this will sound cheesy or dramatic but I cried, I recall all of the good memories we had.
After a few months, my mom told us that “ You guys are moving here in NZ!”.  I was
so happy like really happy! At first, but I remembered my family here in the
Philippines and I became sad.

My mom came back from NZ so that we can all go together to NZ, I was happy when
she came. As the days past, our flight day is getting closer and closer until it came.

New Zealand was a very beautiful country, when I came that’s all I can think of.  The
people are really nice and kind and I so lucky because I go to a school that has really
kind people in it. A year has past and I still go to the same school but I met new friends
and new teachers, I really liked it here. I didn’t expect that I’ll be comfortable in New
Zealand as I was in the Philippines.

Mata I Pusi

WALT: make inferences to understand the deeper meaning behind a text

Task Description: So this is my word art that I made for my create task, the words written in it describes the important aspects of my identity. In the middle you can see the word 'Filipina' because I am from the Philippines and I'm proud of my culture. We also red a book titled 'Mata I Pusi' or 'Eyes of a Cat' it is about a girl who has been mocked because of her green eyes that's why she's kinda embarrased by her mixed culture but then her nana told her something that made her be true to herself.
