Venice -How to be an Upstander?
‘Up Stander’
An Up Stander is someone who recognizes what is wrong and does something about it. For example, if an up stander saw a kid doing the wrong thing they would not just stare at him, they would do something about it.
Up Standers tell other people to STOP! If there doing the wrong thing. Your voice is really powerful, you can use it to protect yourself and others. For example, you saw a kid throwing rubbish everywhere, just tell to ‘STOP’ what their doing. If they don’t listen, you can use your voice to tell someone older or someone who knows better what happened.
Action speaks louder than words. Sometimes, you can’t really use your voice to stop something because sometimes you can actually do something about it. For example, if you saw someone doing the wrong thing, you can tell them to ‘STOP’ but you can also teach them to do the right thing.
You don’t need to be someone else. Being an Up Stander can be anyone, it doesn’t matter if your a Prefect, a house Captain etc. For example, you are just a normal student and you are not that known at school, then you saw a kid doing the wrong thing, as an up stander you should do something about it. It doesn't doens’t matter if your just a normal kid or just you. Being an Up Stander is not that easy, especially when you are really shy. But it’s okay, don’t be afraid especially when you are on the right track.
