Christmas Candle.

In Inquiry, the year 7's are needed to do a "Sculpture". But what is a sculpture? It's making or representing art by carving, casting, or other shaping techniques.

In my situation, I carved designs and more on a candle. It's called the "Christmas Candle", I made it because in my country the Philippines Christmas is like a big thing. I think it's because most Filipinos are religious and they believe in Jesus Christ. That's why I carved 'Merry Christmas' on it, I also carved a Christmas tree on and other designs. The meaning behind it is I want to share the 'Light of Christmas' since it's a candle and I want the fire of the candle to represent the Light and the carvings to represent Christmas. I'm giving it to my family since all of us are very close and we also celebrate Christmas and I wanted them to remeber the true meaning of Christmas, I'm not saying like of us needs to because I know we have different beliefs. BEDMAS Challenge.

WALT:  to use the correct order of operations to solve algebraic equations



Task Description: In Maths, we are learning about BEDMAS and today our teacher gave us this slide called the BEDMAS Challenge. It was really a good practice for us because it goes from easy to hard which is really awesome! Underneath my answers I wrote how I solved it.

Wash your hands.

One way to keep yourself healthy is to keep yourself clean. But how? By washing your hands! Yes, your hands. A lot of people tend to forgot to wash their hands all the time because our hands has the most germs, why? It’s because we touch almost every single thing we see and because we do physical contact to our friends, family and to other people. By washing your hands you can prevent yourself from getting sick and spreading germs to another person. That’s you need to wash your hands atleast 6 times a day or just make it your daily routine or habit to wash your hands before and after eating, after going to the toilet or after touching something gross.

This is called the Bacteria Pathogen Infection.

BEDMAS.

Task Description: In maths, we are learning to use the correct order of operations when solving algebraic equations. We are also learning about BEDMAS or Brackets, Exponents, Division, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction. At first I was kind of confused on how to do it but if you listen and focus I'm sure you'll get it! 

Finding China.

WALT: make sense of information by connecting it to ourselves, texts we know and our world.



Task Description: Last week, we learned about China. There are some facts I know about China and watched some videos about their theme parks, cars and more. They are so cool! I really enjoyed learning about China because first of all, we get to learn about a new country which means we get to know their culture, people, schools and a lot more!

Manaiakalani Film Festival.

What is Manaiakalani Film Festival? In Manaikalani Film Festival, you get to watch other class’s movies that they created. You get to watch them at Sylvia Park with your class and some other schools. Before watching the movie the presentors will introduce their movie before it is played. That’s why in this writing, your going to learn more about the Manaiakalani Film Festival. Presentors, what are they? First, we are going to talk about Presentors. What is their job? Their job is to introduce their class’s movie, for example “ Kia Ora...your name...what school school/class you come from….what your movie is about”. Some of them act something out that is related to their movie, for example. The Movie is about throwing rubbish in the bin, *someone throws rubbish on the stage* “Hey! Why are you throwing rubbish….you should watch room….movie”. Some presentors spend their whole day at Sylvia Park, it depends on how many times are they presenting their movie. Your homerom teacher or your substitute teacher will choose the presentors of your class, if your picked to be a presentor your really lucky because your teachers trusts you and they knwo you can represent your class properly. Movies, what is it about? Most Manaiakalani movies has their own themes, it’s either their fun experience or somehting funny or something about recycling. This year, most of the movies are about recycling and helping the environment which is good. It is really exciting to watch each other’s movies especially when they are from your school, it is really good too watching movies form other schools because some of them are really interesting too. You get to watch it with your classmates and your school. In the Manaiakalani Film Festival, you get to watch movies, but not only by yourself but also with your best friends! You know when you watch a movie by yourself and it’s all dark and no one to talk to, it gets a little bit boring until you fell asleep. But in the Film Festival, for sure your not going to fell asleep because you can sit with your friends ( but sometimes you get to sit with little ones which you can also talk to about the movie, QUIETLY). So this is all the information about the Manaiakalani Film Festival, but don’t forget to be a good audience. And don’t forget to clap even you kind didn’t actually like it but still fake it til you make it, plus by clapping and smiling your showing them that you appreciate their hardwork. 

T4W3 - Word Problems.

WALT: Monitor ourselves to complete our work


Task Description: In Maths, we are learning to monitor ourselves to complete our work. This WALT helped me to focus more on finishing my work before doing something else. In the slides, your going to see some problem solving questions. While doing this, I got a little bit distracted that's why I didn't finish that early but I remembered our WALT.  

Traditional Samoan Tattoos.

In Room 3, we learned about the traditonal Samoan tattoo. There are two types of Samoan Tattoos, one is called a Malu it is the one for the girls and the other is the Tatau it's the one for the boys. In this image, you can see some reasons why some people has a tattoo.

Robyn Kahukiwa.

In Room 2, we laerned about Robyn Kahukiwa. Did you know that she's not only an artist but also a writer and inllustrator too? In this image, your going to see an artwork she made. It is one of my favorites because I liked the message behind this one, "Power To Define" that's title of it. 

Sistine Chapel.

In Room 1, we learned about the Sistine Chapel. It is a really famous artwork by Michelangelo, did you know that most people travelled a long way just to see this? In this image, I also talked about some facts about Michelangelo and why is it important in the community.

Mona Lisa.

In Room 4, we learned about Mona Lisa. Mona Lisa is one of the most famous paintings, everyone loved her. Leanardo Da Vinci, he's the one who painted Mona Lisa or 'Madam Lisa'. I really enjoyed learning about her and the one who painted her, here are some facts about her and Leonardo. 

Attitude Talk.

Today, in our middle block Tony from Attitude visited our Team. He was very funny and such an amazing
person. We talked about stuff that might sound awkward to others but we had to be mature and we had
to listen and learn about these stuff because it’s also for us.

First, we talked about changes physically. While growing up we change physically and emotionally, how?
Because we are growing up, I mean we can’t stay little forever. So we talked about some parts of our
body that mostly change, like our hair, hand and feet and more. We learned that our hands and feet grow
bigger as we grow up, so when you have those clunsy experience. Maybe your hands or feet are just
growing bigger and that you need to be used to it, don’t worry that’s fine.

Second, we talked about being clean. While growing up we sweat and we interact with some things that
can have bacteria or germs in it, that’s why we need to stay clean all the time. Our Hygiene is very
important to us because it will help ourselves in the future, how? So for example your a grown up man
or woman and your applying for a job, of coures they will look on your personality and of coures on how
you look like. You need to be presentable and also clean when you apply for a job, so that it’s not
embarrassing to them or to yourself.

We also talked about having a plan, especially when you are in the middle part of growing up. You
need to have a plan so that you have like a backup if something happens, you know what I’m talking
about. Plus, you can also talk to your parents or someone you really trust, it is good if that person is
the same gender as you are.

We talked about being healthy, eating healthy food and drinking lots of water. Why? Because the more
you eat healthy food, the more your skin will get healthier.

Additionally, we talked about changes emotionally. Part of growing up is changing, but it’s not only
physically but also emotionally. Your thinking might change like maturity, like for example you might
think that almost everything is ‘embarrassing’. But don’t worry, it’s fine because it’s part of growing up
but don’t take advantage of it.

We also talked about believing in yourself, honestly this is my favorite part because I feel like I kinda
need it. What I like about this part is he demonstrated it to us so that we can understand it more, which
is awesome. He talked about that we are all valueble and just to believe in yourself.

It was so awesome having this talk even though it kinda feels awkward on some parts but luckily
we manage to be mature and listened. There are some more things we talked about that is also
related on changing/ Puberty. Plus, we would like to say thank you to Tony.

Lady Pink.

Today we learned about Lady Pink. Who's Lady Pink? She is a famous Graffiti Artist. In this image your going to see some facts about her and why her artworks are important to the community. You will also see some famous artworks made by her, I picked the "Out of Love was born a Legendary Female". I picked it because I thought it was very cool and the details of it, plus the name is very interesting!

Task Description: In Maths we are learning to explain and justify our thinking to everyone in our group. In this slide, your going to see some problems related to time. What I learned in this lesson is how to present or explain your work to everyone properly, so that they can understand what your talking about.

Fortnite Banned?

Task Description: In Literacy, we are learning to edit our writing so that it can be easily understood. In this slide, your going to see if Fortnite should be banned or not? Before we answered this slide, we had a debate if Fortnite should be banned or not. It was a fun debate because we got a chance to show our different sides, plus our explanation. In the last slide, there is an essay saying what Fortnite is doing to other people's lives.

How to look after your body?

Every part of your body has a job in your system, that’s why every part is very important and
needs to be taken care of. Why? Because your body can’t function properly if one part of it is
not good, especially your brain. Your brain tells you what your doing or how it’s done. If you
don’t have a proper meal your brain will not function that well, in this essay your going to see
how to look after your body.

Drink a lot of water. If you have lots of fluid in your body, your body and brain will function
well. How? Water does a lot of things in your body more than you could ever think of, it’s not
only an answer for thirst. Water protects some parts inside your body, like your tissues, spinal
cords and joints. Tissues are a group of cells that work together for a specific function. Spinal
cords, consists of nerves that carries messages between the the brain and your body. Joints, are
a structure that seperates two or more elements of the skeletal system. If you don’t drink enough
water, you are going to feel dehydrated or the feeling of not having enough water, which is not
good.

Eat fruits and vegetables. Having something healthy on the side of your plate is actually
helpful, it’s like having a balanced diet. You don’t need to eat healthy food every single day, you
can eat unhealthy food too but make sure that you eat healthy food more than that. Fruits and
vegetables consist of a lot of vitamins that can help on your body to be fit and healthy, they are
also low in fat, salt and sugar. A good source of dietary fibre, dietary fibre it is something that
cannot be digested by our bodies’ enzymes. It is also a protection from all of the diseases
around us, when you eat a lot of healthy food it really helps you to be healthy.

You need to exercise a lot. An every day run can help you be fit and healthy, how? Our bodies
also needs to move around or run, so that we can avoid Obesity problems. Obesity is related
to having a high risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes and more. If you can’t do a run everyday,
you can stretch every morning. If you just stayed at home and did nothing, your body will feel
tired easily.

Stay healthy and fit while your young, so that you won’t regret it when you became an adult.
Doing these stuff can help you to be as healthy as possible.

Do you think 'pests' should be treated with more respect?

 Animals that are called ‘pests’ by predator free groups should be treated with more ‘respect’. I both agree and disagree because both topics has a point.. I disagree because first they kill other animals. Plus, they destroy native wildlife. Second, They are affecting other people’s lives, how? ‘Cats to go” this is a website that wants New Zealanders to own only one cat. How about the ‘Cat lovers’? The ones who really love cats. Third, some of them are the reasons some animals are endangered right now, the reason why some other animals are very likely to be extinct. I agree because if don’t show respect to a type of animal, it’s like not showing respect to all of them. Why? They are all animals, they are all basically the same inside. Second, if you kill one animal, as the time past your going to kill more animals. For example, you kill cats, as the time pasts, your also killing dogs, tigers, etc. It is not good for our environment too, if that happens. Maybe one day, we are the reason of some animals being endangered.

Our Amazing World

Task Description: In Cybersmart, we need to search some places around the world using Google Earth. Google Earth is really awesome because of it's effects and you can really explore Earth or the whole world! In this slide, your going to see a tower, a water fall and a desert and some information about it. I hope you enjoy!

Graphics

So for Graphics, we are making a comic image about what do we think or what is our expectations about Graphics. So first, I thought Graphics is going to be related to Arts because our classroom, I mean when I first saw our room it's so colorful and it's full of ArtWorks, which excites me because I love Arts.

The Future

‘Earth in 2048’ Have you ever think of the future? Well, in this writing your going to see some things that can possibly happen in the future. Like a timetravel in the future! In my opinion, in the year 2048 our technology will be much updated. Who knows? Shapeshifting building material that reacts to rain, better data that save marine mamals. These are some examples of technology in 2048, but do you think some of these inventions can help others? According to my research, some technology breakthroughs and trends will be available in public. Which means, some of these gadgets will be released soon. In my opinion, I think some of this gadgets can help the environment and even us. But, sometimes there is a question in my mind..what if technology takes over the world? Is it still the same in 2048? In my opinion, no. My reasons are, first a lot might change and it can affect our thinking especially to the kids who are born in that year or earlier. Second, imagine the life of the people in the 1900s and our life right now, see the difference? For me, I think it works the same between 2018 and 2048. I believe that there is a big chance that history might believe itself, which is possible to happen. Will history repeat itself again? For me, there’s a possiblity. In life, we can’t avoid having problems and corruptions. Even though, he/she has a lot of money but he/she doens’t know how to use it, it’s still nothing. War, some parts of our planet are having wars right now. Slavery, in my opinion and according to some people that I asked, I think slavery has a low chance of happening again which is good. It's because people are being more open, like some people are being an upstander and telling what they feel and what others feel about, for example a change of something. Which has an effect in our lives, because the government or etc. might change it.

Every single thing we say, we do and we think matters. It can affect our future or others and our environment. So make sure, when your saying, doing and thinking of something, always think about it.
